Paul Jewell made a left sided midfielder his priority and has succeeded in his
Kevin Kilbane
quest, signing the 29-year-old who flew from the Ireland squads training ground to have a medical in Wigan.

Kilbane, who can also operate in the centre of midfield, has signed a three year deal, with the option of a fourth year. Speaking to the official website, he said:"Wigan are a highly ambitious club and have made some great signings over the summer."

"Paul Jewell is my type of manager because he likes to be close to the players and now i just want to join up with the rest of the squad and play my part."

Clearly delighted by his latest capture, Jewell said:"I have been a long-term admirer because he's a Wigan type of player, committed, athletic, quick and talented."

"I have always maintained that i want at least two players for every position, and Kevin will now give us a terrific option on the left hand side."
