Kavanagh praises team ethic

Graham Kavanagh: Pleased with recent performances
A run of five defeats was ended with a 3-0 thrashing of Charlton Athletic, a game that included a stunning Henri Camara hat-trick.

The Latics have gone from strength to strength since, with Roberts and Camara scoring ten goals in the past four games, a statistic that has led to comments suggesting the pair are arguably the best partnership in the top flight.

Kavanagh himself is pleased that the side has got back to playing aggressive, in-your-face football, that opponents don't like to face.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "We have got back to what we are good at, getting into people's faces.

"We compete all over the park, and we get the ball into areas where Henri and Jason can cause damage. People talk about teams having character and we certainly have that in abundance.

"There is a tremendous belief and a willingness to work hard and all that stems down from the manager who expects that from us, no matter how good or bad we play. We have to give our all in terms of attitude, desire and will to win."

More of this determination will hopefully see the Latics beat Blackburn on New Years Eve in the first ever league meeting between the sides.

Team-mate Lee McCulloch is looking forward to the encounter with Blackburn, the Scottish international told wiganathletic.tv: "Blackburn are a very fit team and they can get around the pitch and I think it is going to be a very hard and physical game on Saturday."
