A win in Saturday's game would put the Latics into the Premiership, a place that the Irish international midfielder wants to return.

Graham Kavanagh
He told the club's official website: "I've played in the top flight at the beginning of my career with Middlesboro and now I have the chance to get there again. If we can achieve it, it would be massive, almost too big to comprehend. It would change the lives of everyone connected with Wigan Athletic, particularly the players and we're all determined the finish the job.

"Without a shadow of a doubt this is the most important game I'll have played in because of what's at stake. I can't wait and neither can the rest of the players. These are the sort of games that players dream of being involved in and I'm sure it's going to be like a Cup final atmosphere at the JJB Stadium. I don't feel under pressure for this game, I just feel excited and that's the attitude that all the players have.

"It's surprised me how quickly I've settled in here. The players made me feel welcome and part of the set up from my first training session and it's been a great experience ever since. There is a tremendous togetherness about this squad and I've fitted right into that."

Meanwhile, tickets for the game are selling like hot pies at the JJB. There are jsut 900 tickets left for the West Stand and even less for the South.

Chief Executive Brenda Spencer said: "This is a terrific response from the people of the town. We knew that demand for this match would be high but at the moment it's surpassing our expectations. My advice to fans is don't leave it to the day of the game itself because you might be disappointed. To be certain of seeing history in the making this Sunday it's vital you buy your ticket in advance."
