After a disaster first season with the Latics, French international Olivier Kapo is set to be given a second chance with the club by new boss Roberto Martinez.
The former Juventus and Birmingham City player featured for 90 minutes in the 4-3 reserve defeat against Manchester City and his return to fitness is a timely boost for Martinez.He said: "You can never get enough competition and you can never get enough quality.
"Olivier Kapo is a player of experience and great quality as a player, and it was pleasing to see him getting through 90 minutes for the reserves and that's another option.
"Olivier is going to carry on working on his match fitness. We're delighted at the moment that everyone is fully fit and ready for the challenge."
With the lack of forward options signed before the close of the transfer window, Kapo could well have an important role to play for the club.
Certainly his style of football could gel with the Martinez way and a return to form for Kapo would be very welcome amongst Wigan fans.
