Johansson: Showed his potential during second part of last season
He netted seven goals, four in the league all after Christmas, and made a number of eye catching performances playing both as a makeshift striker and in midfield.

There was even talk of Johanssons late season form earning him a recall to theSweden World Cup squad, sadly for the Swede he has had to follow his countries progress on television.

The 27-year-old chose to take advantage of the mid-summer fitness tests and is aiming to make a huge impact from the start when the Premiership kicks-off in August.

Talking to the Wigan Evening Post, Johansson said: "My aspiration for the new season is to start playing a little bit more."

"Last season i wasn't involved much before Christmas, but after that, i was involved most of the time and scored a few goals."

"I felt i was heading in the right direction, was much more confident, and my personal goal is to be in the starting 11 for most of the games."

With the depature of midfielders David Thompson and Jimmy Bullard, the Wigan faithfull will be looking to Johansson to continue the form he showed near theend of last season.
