While Taylor himself was delighted to be back. He commented: "It felt so good to be back playing against Reading last week, I felt fit, and I then played against Portsmouth at the weekend.
"The last 10 or 15 minutes of the match at Reading were a bit tiring with us attacking and then having to get back to defend, but it was a case of getting up and down the pitch a lot.
"I don't think it did me any harm, though, and hopefully there will be more games to come to test my fitness further.
"I'm just so pleased to be back in action because things obviously didn't go well last year, but I just had to get on with it."
An interview with the full-back will be screened during the Latics TV show tonight at 7.30pm on Channel M.
