Jewell talks up survival

PJ: Confident of survival
A late penalty from Darren Bent was enough for Charlton after the Latics had seemingly gone to London for the draw.

Paul Jewell remains up beat about his teams survival hopes despite the narrow three point advantage over the drop zone.

He said: "I think we are better than the teams down there. I think there is enough in this team, enough in the squad to get enough points to keep us up. If we don't get enough points between now and the end of the season then we'll deserve to go down but I don't think we will.

"You have to keep calm. The biggest thing I've got is the belief in the team that we will stay up. Charlton were dead and buried, or they looked dead and buried not so long ago but have got that belief back.

"I felt that we were the better team in a very average game because it was high on tension but it's gone their way. Maybe we'll get one or two decisions that might go our way - they say they even themselves out and I believe in that."

Next up for the Latics are local neighbours Bolton at the JJB on Saturday. The Trotters are currently fifth in the Premiership and will provide a difficult game for the Latics.
