Nicky Eaden, 33, has recently joined Nottingham Forest on a two year deal in League One after being told he could leave on a free transfer.

Paul Jewell
Jewell told the Wigan Observer: "There was no way he [Eaden] was forced out the door. But he knew his chances would be limited this season as well.

"He lives in Birmingham and he didn't need to be coming up and down the motorway for two hours a day to play in our reserves.

"I gave him the option to leave on a free, he thought hard about it and as sad as he was to leave, he's pleased to get two years there [Forest]."

Whilst Ian Breckin has been the subject of a £350,000 bid from the same club.

Jewell said: "Nottingham Forest have madea bid for Brecks. Ian is thinking over their offer at the moment, but if he chooses to stay here I'll be delighted.

"Neil Warnock wanted to buy him last season for Sheffield United but I haven't heard from him this summer.

"I'm trying to bring two centre-backs in and Ian is a player who thinks his chances in the Premiership will be limited.

"Everyone knopws we lack pace at the back and it's one area I'm trying ot address.

"I am hoping to sign five players before the start of the season. I think things will start moving now we're back in training.

"I want to bring in another defender on top of that as well, another midfielder, a striker and another wide player."

Busy times ahead no doubt.
