Jewell on Cardiff victory

Jewell said: "It was a great result for us because the last two games have gone against us at home and the pressure is now back on Ipswich.

"To come to Cardiff and not play free-flowing football but still get the result is a big boost to us, but you're not going to get good games at this stage of the season. We are fighting for our lives, Cardiff are fighting for their lives and there is so much at stake that it's just not conducive to good football.

"You can argue that we played better against West Ham then we did today, but we got the three points and that's all that matters.

"It was one of those games where we just had to get a result. Whatever it takes you need to get the result and we had a little bit of fortune, but that's been lacking in recent weeks.

"The players here play a lot of games and I don't often change the team, but I thought all the lads who came in did fantastically well."

Graham Kavanagh
Whilst Kavanagh commented: "I was glad to get the win out of the way, now I truly hope Cardiff stay up. I could have shot but saw Alan had a better chance. Of course I would have scored, but to be honest I wasn't keen against Cardiff!

"It was a massive result for us and the pressure is on Ipswich now. I enjoyed the game, the reception at Ninian Park was brilliant and it felt like a real homecoming. It was very emotional at the end and I have to say a massive thank you to the fans.

"I told the Cardiff lads coming off the pitch to make sure they stay up, and I have every confidence that they will. The players, fans and management deserve it. They are a better team than their League position suggests."
