Jewell has one week to make key decisions

Roberts: Back in contention for Cardiff
His key decision is likely to lie up front with the return of Jason Roberts from suspension, Henri Camara's return from the African Nations and Andreas Johansson's brace at White Hart Lane.

It may well be that Johansson is dropped to his preferred role as a midfielder with Camara and Roberts taking the striking berths. Neil Mellor has dropped out the racing with a pathetic performance at Bolton.

Midfield competition is also strong at the moment with the return of Lee McCulloch from his hernia injury.

Thompson, Bullard, Kavanagh, Francis, Teale, Johansson, Scharner and Mahon must compete for four positions.

Other key decisions for PJ lie at left back where he must choose between Baines and Ziegler, centre back with Henchoz, De Zeeuw and Jackson fighting for two positions.

Jewell said: "I'm going to have to break one or two hearts. I don't think a lot of the players like me anyway and some of them are going to dislike me even more next week.

"But I know what it feels like to be left out of a final because it happened to me. It may have been the Freight Rover or whatever it's called but it was still playing at Wembley, which was a big thing for me.

"I got 10 minutes as a sub and never touched the ball. I'm going to disappoint a few people but I have to do it. You can't please everybody. I expect those players to be disappointed but that's what I get paid for."
