PJ said: "This is a good win for us and is one that is a victory for heart, desire and character. Conditions really were awful out on the pitch and even I didn't realise how bad until I walked out on the pitch at the final whistle. However, I thought the lads dug in very well and showed just how much they wanted the victory today. It wasn't a day for pretty football, although we did play quite well at times, it was day to battle and work hard and I thought we did that and deserved our win in the end.

"We started great to get in front but I was then disappointed with the goal we conceded. We should have stopped the cross to be honest and then we didn't pick up the runner either. Fortunately we made up for our mistakes in the second period and I felt we were worthy winners.

"I thought Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington played very well and I like to see my strikers scoring. I also thought that Gary Teale then came to the party in the second half and frightened them to death. When he gets his tail up he can be a really big player for us and we need to see more of the performances we saw from him in the second period.

"I didn't have the greatest view of the penalty but I'm told Dario has no complaints so that probably tells you all you need to know. It was a good positive run from 'Tealey' though and it looked to me like the lad dived in a little bit clumsily.

"Jason Roberts has been one of our best players for the past couple of months and he showed again today what he's all about. I actually spoke to him in the week and asked him to become even more of a leader for us as he's a big character and a big player here. He certainly seems to have stepped up to the mark and though he was playing well anyway, I thought he was outstanding today.

"All in all it's a fine win for us because it is winning games like this one, in difficult conditions, that you build a promotion campaign on. It reminded me of the game at Mansfield in awful conditions that we won when we collected the Division Two title a couple of years ago. I know that Ipswich and Sunderland have both won but that's not for us to worry about, we just have to make sure we pick up our own points. We have done that today in decent style and can go home happy before starting to prepare for Leeds at the JJB next weekend."
