Jewell said: "The Premiership really is a physical league, sometimes I felt we got out-muscled last season.
"So at Newcastle, we had Emmerson Boyce, Fitz Hall, Arjan de Zeeuw, Paul Scharner, Lee McCulloch, Emile Heskey and Chris Kirkland playing, all of them big lads.
"It was a big side, although we are not just going to lump it, I just feel it is an important part of what we want to do this season.
"We have put plenty of height into the team and that should help us with set-pieces at both ends."
