Jewell failed with Windass Bid

The Latics boss knows Windass well from his time as Bradford manager, and attempted to sign the veteran last summer, which like this latest attempt, also failed.

Although an offer thought to be worth £500,000 was made, the Bantams rejected the aproach as they see him as too important to their promotion prospects.

Bradford chairman Julian Rhodes said: "Wigan contacted me with an offer which I turned down."

This is one deal I personally am glad did not come off.
