"It will be a tough game for us - but we are looking forward to every game. We are meeting all the teams at the moment when they are flying high."
It will have a bit of a local derby feel to it," he predicted.
Wigan proved themselves worthy of top-flight status in their maiden Premiership season last time round, but Jewell insists they cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
"Teams are respecting us more than they did last year - but we have to forget what happened last year," he said.
"We have to prove ourselves over and over again. We have started off results-wise not very good but performance-wise very encouraging."
