Jewell doesn't deny Forster link

Jewell wants support for Roberts, Ellington and Graham and sees Forster as that man.

He has failed in moves for Stoke City's Ade Akinbiyi who has now moved to Burnley and Brett Ormerod will not be joining on loan after Saints boss Harry Redknapp told the striker he was needed at St Mary's.

With regards to Forster, he has fallen behind Kitson, Owusu and Ferdinand in the Reading pecking order and manager Steve Coppell seems to have lost faith in the veteran striker.

However, if Jewell wants him in he will have to act fast as the transfer deadline looms on the horizon (24th March). A bid of around £250,000 should be enough to tempt Coppell to part with the hitman as he is looking for cash to improve his own squad. Forster could well be the source of that money.

Jewell told Sky Sports: "We haven't made a bid for him, but I didn't say he was a player I wasn't interested in."

"I'm looking for a striker, but other positions as well. I'm pretty certain we will get someone in before the deadline."
