Some people took Jewell's comments as a way of signalling his unhappines at the club, especially after just 15,000 turned up for the midweek, televised

clash against Arsenal (which was on before Christmas too don't forget).

Jewell had been linked with the jobs at Middlesbrough and West Ham United, but Jewell insists he sitll has a job to do at the JJB Stadium.

"I'm happy at Wigan and I'm not looking to go anywhere at the moment but you have to remember management is an extremely fickle business. Alan Pardew's plight confirms that.

"The chairman doesn't interfere and I run the football side. But he's a man of his word and always said that if a certain type of club came in for me that he wouldn't stand in my way if I wanted to go.

"I remember once a club did approach the chairman and he said he didn't think it would have been a good idea for me to have moved on.

"We have a very good relationship; we talk every day. But yes, sometimes, it can be disappointing to see the crowd figures especially when you can be at Sheffield United on a Monday night for a match with Aston Villa and see 30,000."
