Mike Pollitt
Jewell said: "Everyone makes mistakes - we're all human beings. We need to eradicate the mistakes we're making to give ourselves a chance.

"We want to be playing against teams at 0-0, not having to try and fight our way back from 2-0 all the time.

"Mike [Pollitt] held his hands up. He made a mistake, but he didn't let it affect him- he made four top class saves after that.

"He's a top 'keeper and a great professional and he won't let this get him down.

"We're getting punished for errors.

"It's happened in the last three league games and we've gifted the oppostion goals. It's hard enough to win at this level without giving team goals on plates.

"It just proves at this level if you trip up you'll pay a heavy price."

While the Latics boss will have to place 38 year old stopper Gary Walsh on the bench at the weekend.

John Filan has been unable to train again this week after sustaining a knee injury.

Jewell added: "John [Filan] is unable to train. It's difficult to say how long he will be out for, but we need him back as quickly as possible."
