He told the club's official site: "It was quite a daunting place to make your debut for a new club but it went well and I really enjoyed it. I actually felt we were a little bit unlucky not to get at least a draw from the game because we had a goal disallowed, hit the post and forced Jens Lehman into a good save too.

"To play at Highbury was particularly memorable and to be on the same pitch as someone like Patrick Vieira will be something to look back and reflect on in the years to come. However, the over-riding feeling is still one of disappointment because as I said, we could easily have got something out of the game.

"I'm looking forward to my loan spell at Stoke because it should be just what I need having returned to full fitness. It will certainly be better than turning out for the reserves here at Wigan and to be honest there aren't many reserve team matches here over the next month anyway. To get through the 90 minutes yesterday was really pleasing as it is the first full match I have played since the injury and I feel better for it already.

"Hopefully over the course of this loan spell I can continue to get stronger as it's my match sharpness that needs improving now. We have games against QPR and Leeds coming up so they are matches to look forward too, and hopefully I can do myself justice during my time here and help Stoke progress up the table a little bit more towards the play-off positions."

While in other news, Paul Mitchell has extended his loan spell at the MK Dons for another month.

He has made seven appearances so far for Danny Wilson's team and will be available for their game with Colchester.

A strange one now and Danish midfielder Stig Tofting is training with the club. Tofting is friends with Latics midfielder Frandsen and he is trying to earn himself at contract at the JJB whilst also working on his fitness. Tofting is now 35 and is a free agent.
