Jackson told the Wigan Observer: "I've never made a secret of the fact that I'd like to finish my career down south. I've got a house there, so it makes sense really.

"I realise my chances at Wigan are going to be limited and I've got to look after myself. I wouldn't say I have been frustrated. I've enjoyed my involvement and have been very much a part of it with the lads.

"As a professional you do want to play, but I understand where I'm at in the game and my position within the club. I'm training hard every day and I'm here if required."

Jackson has made 150 appearances for the Latics and has been linked with a summer move to Mike Newell's Luton Town.
