performer during a tough time for Wigan, and believes the Latics will be plying their trade in the Premiership next season.

He said: "It is a tense time for the fans but hopefully they can see us all playing for the shirt and sticking by each other. That gives us great confidence going into next week's game and the games thereafter.

"They are tense times but we still wouldn't swap with anyone below us. We have got decent fixtures from now to the end of the season.

"We are trying very hard for each other and we believe we can get out of this quite comfortably. We have to prove that on the pitch and that was a big point for us at Villa.

"If we had lost three games in a row, confidence starts to take a dip. A point keeps applying pressure to those teams around us and they have to go out and prove they can get above us. It is going to be a tough old run-in but we are very much up for it."
