"I have set myself the goal of playing in the reserve game next week. Whether that comes to fruition or not, we will have to wait and see.
Jason De Vos has just returned from international duty with Canada to increase Jewell's defensive options and Jackson is keen to force his way back into the selection picture as soon as he can.
Jackson told Wigan's website: "I had played 16 games and the team had been doing pretty well, so to miss a few games was pretty frustrating.
"Having said that, the injury hasn't turned out to be as bad as it could be and now I'm just looking forward to getting back in the side as quickly as possible.
"Now it's just a question of when I feel it's right for me to comeback.
"The staff here realise that I'm experienced enough to know when I'm ready and they'll wait for my decision."
