Ipswich nerves show in defeat to Wolves

Goals in the first half from Colin Cameron and Carl Cort sealed victory for Glenn Hoddle's side in what was a rampant display.

Ipswich would have crashed to an even heavier defeat but for a heroic display by goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

It was only Wolves' fifth win in 20 league games under Glenn Hoddle's control but the result did extend their unbeaten run to 14 games.

However, 14 draws in those 20 games have ensured that Wolves are not going to figure with Ipswich in the promotion race.

There are a large number of clubs with nothing to play for at this stage of the season.

Fans at Wolves, Q.P.R., Burnley and Leicester to name but a few have nothing to cheer as their clubs just drift out to the end of another season.

For Sunderland, ourselves and Ipswich however, this stage of the season couldn't be more important as only two from three can make it automatically.

It's a big weekend coming up. The Latics travel to Leicester who are seemingly safe from the threat of relegation now. Whilst Ipswich host Sunderland in a game that will go a long way to deciding who makes the top two.

Here's how the table stands after last nights game:
