With Jewell as manager and Hutchings as assistant, the Latics experienced amazing success with the duo in charge of two promotions and a two seasons of top flight football.

When Jewell resigned over the summer, Hutchings took on the manager's role but after a run of nine defeats he was sacked and current boss Steve Bruce brought in.

Now the pair have been reunited at Derby with Hutchings today appointed as assistant to Jewell. Speaking of the move Hutchings said: "When Paul got back in touch, I was delighted to join up with him again.

"Football is a game based on trust and when you build up relationships over time, these can be invaluable. Coming into the club as an outsider, I can see the potential at the club is incredible."
