Hutch Sacked

Chairman Dave Whelan issued a statement this morning, saying: "This has been a very difficult decision for me and the Board to make but i felt we had to act in the best interests of the football club and its long-term future.

"Chris has worked very hard since becoming manager and i cannot fault his effort and commitment to the cause."

Assistant Frank Barlow and first team coach Mark Seagreaves have been put in charge of the first team.

With Hutch gone, it is hoped Whelan will attempt to bring in a big name to manage the club, with Graeme Souness and Chris Coleman being linked to the job.
