Jewell said: "Emile is touch-and-go for the Villa game. It's too early in the week to make a judgement on him. We sent him for another scan yesterday and hopefully we'll have the results soon."

Also on the treatment table are Gary Teale, David Cotterill, Josip Skoko, Fitz Hall and Arjan De Zeeuw. Teale is suffering with a hamstring injury while De Zeeuw has a larger than usual big toe.

The big Dutch defender needed two painkilling injections to get through Saturday's victory over Charlton, and despite the severity of the injury, Jewell expects the 36 year old to make Sunday's clash.

Jewell said: "Arry has a problem with his toe and is a major concern, although with him, he tends to make it for a matchday.

"On a more positive note, Josip Skoko and Fitz Hall have made good progress with their injuries and have been working hard with the physios.

"We'll monitor their progress this week but won't rush them. "Tealey is still recovering from his hamstring strain and I've no idea how long he'll be, while Cotterill has pulled out of the Wales squad."
