Heskey suffers broken foot

Emile Heskey: Three months out
After his impressive performances for England over the past week, it was hoped that the former Leicester striker would return to the Latics and continue from where he had left off.

Instead, and an unlucky foot injury put paid to Heskey's day and limited Wigan's attacknig ability. His replacement Marcus Bent wasn't in the same league and Antoine Sibierski was even worse.

Most worrying for Latics fans will be the recovery time from such an injury. It is said to be the fifth metatarsel and requires three months out of action that would see Heskey return in time for Christmas.

Until then, it may be a long hard struggle for points with no focal point in the Latics attack. If the performance yesterday is anything to go by, points will be hard to rack up.

Latics boss Chris Hutchings said: "He's just having an X-ray and we are waiting for him to come back to see how he is. He's rolled over on his ankle but to what extent the damage is, we don't know yet.

"The scans could show it is a metatarsal but we hope it isn't. It's very disappointing for him, especially with week he's had."
