Heskey form propels Latics

Heskey's three goals have unfortunately led to only two points for the club with the defence appearing particularly weak against Tottenham. Such goals have galvanised the team ahead of a difficult trip to Anfield where the 28 year old frontman would no doubt love to score.

Aside from his goals, Heskey's performances have also been top notch. His team play is excellent and he holds the ball up with relative ease, releasing pressure from the team.

Years of abuse from supporters of England and also Liverpool have clearly taken their toll on the forward, but he has recently been showing just what he is capable of.

Come the end of the season, it could well be Heskey's goals that keep the team in the division. And should he manage double figures for the campaign then Wiganers will no doubt consider the £5.5 million Paul Jewell paid for the striker money well spent.
