Greedy King stalls transfer

Jamaican international, King has agreed term with the Tigers and a fee, believed to be around £3 million has been agreed between the respective clubs.

The stalling block appears to be King's demands for a settlement on his Latics contract. This is somewhat of an interesting move considering King only joined the club seven months ago and will no doubt be set to receive his second signing on fee in as many seasons if he switches clubs.

A frustrated Steve Bruce hit out at the player earlier this week saying that he may well call the deal off if King does not lower his demands. Now, Hull City chairman Paul Duffen has spoke out against the player.

Duffen told the Daily Mail: "As far as we're concerned, we've agreed everything that we can over Marlon King. It's a three-way situation in the transfer - between us and Wigan, between us and the player and, finally, between the player and Wigan.

"Two of those aspects have been agreed but it's down to what happens between the player and Wigan now. The agent has put Wigan in a very difficult situation.

"I am beginning to get the impression that the move might be driven by money more than ambition. At this stage, it's not clear if that's down to the agent or the player."

Clearly frustrated with the situation, Hull would rather get hold of King now as opposed to waiting until the season kicks off. Perhaps a ploy by the Latics to restrict Hull's chances of survival this season.

However Latics supporters would argue that allowing King to move to Hull would be a greater hinderance on their survival chances.
