Mike Pollitt: Joined today on a two year deal
... has joined on a two year deal and will initially be the understudy to Australian John Filan.

Many believe that Paul Jewell has again worked wonders in the transfer market, pulling off another bargain buy.

The Bolton born stopper is said to be one of the most under-rated and is looking forward to life in the Premiership.

Speaking to Wigan Athletic's official club website, Mike Pollitt said: "I'm delighted to have completed this deal and I'm really looking forward to mixing it in the Premiership this season.

"I've been in discussions with Wigan for a while now and there's never been any doubt in my mind that this was a challenge I was going to accept. Obviously leaving Rotherham is wrench, particularly as I've had so many good times there and the people have been so good to me. However, at this stage in my career I couldn't turn down the opportunity to join a club like Wigan Athletic, especially now they're in the top flight.

"In John Filan they already have a top class keeper and for me he's one of the best around. I know I'll have to fight for my place in the first team but I'm prepared to be patient and will look forward to working closely with Filan and Gary Walsh to make sure the team does well this year."
