Owen Coyle today told the Wigan Evening Post that the fomer Olimpia left back has been particularly impressive in training since arriving last month from South America.

The powerful full back was given the opportunity to play for the reserve team this week after the cancellation of a scheduled Honduras international friendly.

Speaking about Garcia, Coyle said: "He’s integrating with the group and they’ve really taken to him. Now we get the chance to play him in a reserve game and after that he’s ready for first team action.

“What we’ve got to do is integrate him. He’s got bits of English here and there and he’s done very well with that.

“He’s come in and he’s done very well in training. It’s great that he’s here as opposed to being away for an international friendly because the Honduras game was cancelled.”

Stephen Crainey is expected to retain his place for Saturday's trip to Bournemouth but with at least 55 games to play this season Garcia is sure to be given his chance in the first team.
