Nottingham Forest - Ian Breckin and Nicky Eaden's new club - have already opened the bidding but have not come close to the Saddlers asking price which is rumoured to be up around the £1 million mark.

Walsall boss Paul Merson has confirmed that since the bid from Megson's Forest two Premeirship clubs have made enquires for Fryatt and he can't see the forward resisting a move to the top flight.

Many at Walsall do not believe he is ready for a move to the Premiership after only recently establishing himself in the Saddlers squad. They feel that he would be better staying for at least another twelve months before testing hismelf at the top level.

Iain Hume of Tranmere Rovers is another young striker from the lower leagues who has been linked with a move after the club failed to agree a fee for Bradford's 36 year old striker Dean Windass.
