Per Frandsen
Frandsen joined the Latics on a bosman style transfer during the close seasonfrom local rivals Bolton and had become an integral part of the side before he damaged knee ligaments.

The injury has since required two operations, despite the set-back the Dane is determined to play again for the Latics and would like to play in the last game of the season before he moves back home.

"It's definitely my last season. I'm definitely going to retire after this season. I'm not going to change my mind," he told Sky Sports News.

"It would be nice not to finish my career on a stretcher so hopefully I will come on or something and play a game.

"I thought I had a good year in me, but unfortunately this happened and now I'm definitely going to stop next year."
"It [the injury] was a freak accident," he added.

"I was going to volley the ball up field and didn't see one of the Sheffield United players and I think I hit his elbow with my knee.

"My knee just went around and it was just one of those freak accidents."
