Forest in talks with Breckin

Nottingham Forest have already pinched Nicky Eaden on a free transfer and have now launched a bid for centre back Ian Breckin.

That bid has been accepted by the Latics and the former Chesterfield star is in talks with Forest as we speak.

Manager Paul Jewell said: "Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Brecks (Breckin) and we've allowed him to talk to them.

"I'm not sure what Ian is going to do at this stage, but he's reported back for pre-season training with the rest of the squad and has been working hard.Forest has made him an offer and he's thinking about it.

"Regardless of what Brecks decides to do, I'm looking to bring in one, if not two new centre halves to the club anyway. Pace at the back is an area we need to improve on for the Premiership season and I'm looking to improve that."

Such careless comments.

Should the Latics lose Ian Breckin, the squad will have just two centre backs. Another two would be essential, let alone one. The club is also struggling at right back with only David Wright recognised in that position.

Here's to hoping there is a master plan.
