Folan ready for Newcastle contest

Caleb Folan celebrates his goal at Watford on Wednesday
In particular, the striker thanked the supporters who went to Vicarage Road for their support.

He told the club's official website: "I thought the fans were magnificent at Watford. They cheered us on all night and my only regret is that I didn't get the chance to score in front of them! I think they can make a big difference to us and I hope they really get behind us again against Newcastle.

"When you're a striker, your job's to score goals, so to get the first one under my belt is nice, really nice. But the main thing is for the team to keep picking up points and I thought we played with real passion on Wednesday.

"Now we need to reproduce that form against Newcastle on Sunday. I know how tough it will be to keep my place in the side because we have so many quality strikers here.

"But I am hungry to keep learning. I'm a confident type of person but when you have so many full internationals around you every day in training, you can only keep improving if you have the right attitude."

Folan's goal and performance against the Hornets will give his manager Paul Jewell plenty to think about ahead of the Newcastle game.

All four of the club's main strikers are now fit and ready to play and it would be somewhat of a personal success for Folan if he should maintain his place in the eleven ahead of the international talent of Heskey, Camara and Aghahowa.

On the other hand, his performances since arriving from Chesterfield more than merit it.

Tickets for the clash with the Magpies are still available from the ticket office priced at £20 for adults. JJB STADIUM TICKET OFFICE 0871 663 3552.
