Folan looking for wins

Caleb Folan: Wants three points against the Hammers this weekend
The 24 year old forward has already proved to be a bargain buy from League One Chesterfield, and has formed an impressive partnership with Emile Heskey up top for the Latics.

Now Folan wants the side to kick on and pick up two wins from their next two games to guarantee safety before the final day.

He told the Wigan Observer: "We are far from comfortable. But we have got to really be looking to get the wins - especially in the next few games at home to keep ourselves up.

"It's still there to play for. If we can put in two good home performances then it'd be really good for us and get us over 40 points. West Ham winning makes it a bit awkward, but we are still there and it's in our own hands.

"We can't really look at teams and hope for a different result. We've just got to get the results ourselves."

The powerful forward is expected to retake his place in the starting line-up this weekend after coming on as a second half substitute at Anfield.

Although the club suffered a 2-0 defeat, Liverpool fan Folan believes there is a lot he can take away from the result. He added: "It takes the edge off it not getting a result, but the experience I will take away and move on.

"I almost scored at the Kop end, but the 'keeper reacted really well and palmed it away. Every player they put in was going to make it a tough game for us."

The game with West Ham this weekend is very close to being a sell-out, and anyone wanting tickets is advised to get them as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Meanwhile there is a campaign to get a Mark Gambles remix played out before the game with West Ham. To read more about the inspirational piece and how you can cast your vote, click here.
