Final tickets selling well | Striker Crisis for Scouse clash

New Striker?
The club is expecting a sell-out for the Carling Cup Final with Manchester United on the 26th February at the Millenium Stadium.

More than 20,000 tickets have already been sold for the game. A club spokesman said: "We have smashed through the 20,000 barrier and our season ticket holders are still coming down in their droves.

"This shows a tremendous appetite from the people of Wigan towards this cup final."

While manager Paul Jewell is a little worried about this weekend's game with Liverpool. He has a striker crisis.

Jason Roberts (suspended), Henri Camara (African Cup of Nations), Lee McCulloch (double hernia), David Connolly (hamstring) and Neil Mellor (ineligable) will all miss the game.

This leaves attacking midfielder Andreas Johansson to run the front line alone.

Rumours suggesting Camara may return early are short of the mark and he is likely to be involved in a third/fourth place play-off even if Senegal lose their semi-final.

Paul Scharner is likely to deputise upfront with Johansson as Jewell reverts to his trusted 4-4-2 formation.

He said: "We haven't got a striker in the building for the next game. We played a different system which I don't really like, although it was a case of needs must. We played with five in midfield which doesn't really suit us."
