Ferguson pleased with Valencia

Valencia left the Latics in the summer with the best wishes of Wigan Athletic supporters. He gave the club three years good service and never once sounded off about wanting to move to a bigger club.

It is perhaps unsurprising that the Ecuadorian managed to seal his big move to Manchester United, as opposed to a mid-tier club like so many former Wigan players.

It is also unsurprising that Sir Alex Ferguson is pleased with his new acquisition who is starting to adapt to life at Old Trafford. He said: "Antonio has settled very well. He's been terrific. He's a good crosser of the ball. He gets the ball in the box and gets it in from tight positions too. Very seldom are his crosses blocked, which isn't easy to do."

Manchester United paid upwards of £15 million for Valencia in the summer, and at just 23 years of age, they have got value for money.
