Diop has struggled with injuries so far this term, but has been an vital influence at Craven Cottage over previous sesaons.

His agent, Craig Hutchinson said: "He's [Diop] fit and he's ready to play, he's not fully fit in terms of match fitness, but he is about two weeks away and ready to start.

"A medical will not be a concern as I have said, he is two weeks away from match fitness and he cannot wait to get started. He just wants to be playing first-team football again and that has been hard at Fulham and the time is probably right for him to move on."

Meanwhile rumours are circulating that the club have been turned down by Ivica Olic of CSKA Moscow. The 27 year old was said to be the subject of £1 million bid but he has his heart set on a move to another Champions League club.

Chairman Dave Whelan meantime has admitted that the club are currently going through a hard time but he believes that we'll get out of it.

Whelan said: "At present we've a problem. It's so tough at the bottom of this division, and everybody knows that. We're all fighting for our lives. Once we get the injured players back I think we could be okay, but these are hard times.

"It's not easy. It's panic buying through this break, but we do not want to buy players we don't really want. Paul is working hard every day. It's just not easy to get players to come to Wigan.

"One of the reasons is we're not recognised as a premier team, and we have to accept that. We have to establish ourselves."
