Dinning Returns

Although Jewell was quick to point out that Dinning has a future at the club, he hinted at a rift between the two by saying: "Tony is still very much part of my plans. I think some people outside the club read into these things more than they should do.

"People working at a club aren't always going to be best of friends and go out to dinner together. But we are all professional people and I have no problem with Tony Dinning.

"He was out of team here before he went to Walsall and it was an arrangement which suited both clubs at the time. It hasn't worked out for him at Walsall, so he will be welcomed back here with open arms.

"I would have liked to have kept Jamie Lawrence because he would have been a good utility player for us. But Colin Lee wanted him back, so I'm pleased to have Tony back here."

Meanwhile Jason Jarrett will be suspended for the cup clash with West Ham on January 3rd as a result of his yellow card at Crewe. That was his fifth of the season and he now has to serve a one match ban.

On the transfer front, Jewell told us that there will be no new additions before the Christmas period, he said: "You have to register new players by noon on Christmas Eve for them to play over the holiday period. So it is unlikely anyone will be signed before then because transfers take more than a day to complete these days.

"We will probably go into the two Christmas games and the FA Cup tie with what we have already got. As we stand, that is okay because we have no major injuries."

Former Latics goalkeeper, Scott Tynan who joined Nottingham Forest has been loaned out to Telford United, Telford manager Mick Jones told the Shropshire Star: "Scott will be with us for a month initially and we'll have a chance to see whether he is the answer for us. I have seen Scott play a few times in the past couple of years and have always been impressed."

While Gavin Johnson is looking for an extension to his Colchester United contract.
