Delort confrms exit rumours

The 23 year old forward signed for a rumoured fee of £3.5 million from French Ligue 2 team FC Tours under the reign of Uwe Rosler.

With only four first team matches for the Latics, and an ongoing struggle to achieve a first team birth, Delort is considering his options elsewhere.

With minutes already under his belt for both Tours and the Latics this season a strange rule means he cannot rejoin a French club, either permanently or on loan for the remainder of the season.

Delort is quoted in the French Football weekly as saying: “We have to find a solution and leave quickly.

“I have the right to be paid at an English club. If a French club buys me, it’s for next season. I can be loaned to Tours for six month. In France, it is only there where I can play. I don’t really like that situation. I do not think I deserve that.

“I hope I can score goals in any league in the world. If I have to leave England, ok, but I will. Why not be loaned to another club and see if it goes well.”

Despite a slow start to his Wigan Athletic career there is a fairly sizeable portion of support who would like to see the young Frenchman given a fair chance to crack the league.

At just 23 years of age and with a combative and physical style of play Delort could be a diamond in the rough.
