Arjan De Zeeuw: Hoping for a call up
...World Cup in Germany this summer.

De Zeeuw who is now 35 would love the opportunity to play for his country and believes his current form merits a place in the squad.

He said: "I'm probably closer than I've ever been because of how well we are doing. I might be in the picture. I'd love to pull on an orange shirt, even if it's only once."

While rumours of a dispute between the Dutchman and club chairman Dave Whelan have been dismissed.

One Sunday newspaper mis-quoted De Zeeuw and the article read that De Zeeuw was unhappy with his chairman interfering with team matters.

Whelan himself pour cold water on the rumours at the training ground on Monday. He said: "We knew certain stories would start appearing to try and portray us in a different light. I don't interfere at the training ground. Paul Jewell just wouldn't allow it."

While manager Jewell added: "They've set us up, it's a good story and they're looking to throw a spanner in the works.

"We're in this big league and we've got to be careful what we say and how we say it because things can look different in print.

"Everyone is collectively together and we won't let national reports get in the way of what we're trying to do."
