The dutchman's contract officially expires on the 1st of July and I think that Paul Jewell was expecting Arjan to return and start training with the rest of the team. However he wasn't there and this upset PJ who has issued the ultimatum.
A number of higher division clubs are chasing the 32 year old defender including Reading, Birmingham, Leicester and Bradford have all been linked.
All this stalling over signing a new contract is leaving the Latics struggling to find a replacement. Matthew Rose, Clint Hill and Eddie Youds have all been linked but it would seem that none of them are prepared to sign if Arjan is going to be staying.
Many fans are getting frustrated at waiting and so Paul Jewell must be pulling his hair out! At least we now have a deadline to look forward to, if forward is the right word?
