Date set for Jewell hearing

The timing of the hearing also means Jewell and Wigan will know their Premieship fate. Survival, or Championship football.
Jewell: fined £2000 and given 2 match touchline ban, suspended for 12 months

That fate could come down to points dropped at the Emirates, when Phil Dowd made numerous poor decisions which led to an Arsenal equaliser instead of a Wigan penalty.

In the aftermath, Jewell confronted the 'ref' and blamed him for the defeat, as well as claiming he could cost the Latics £50million if relegated.

It began when Dowd failed to award Emile Heskey a penalty when pulled down in the box. If given it could have meant a 2-0 lead for Wigan and potentially a red card for Flamini.

Instead, play went on and within seconds Dowd was further causing uproar, refusing to allow Josip Skoko back on the field.

To add insult to injury, Flamini (arguably shouldn't have been on the field) scored the equaliser from an off-side position, with Fitz Hall completing the turn-around scoring an own goal.

After the game, Jewell said: "He has cost our team the points - it could cost us £50million. Referees just do not realise the significance of football matches.

I think some of them consider it to be more of a hobby and they do not take it as seriously as we do as managers and players. I just do not understand where they are coming from."
