With Emile Heskey and Antoine Sibierski his preferred choice - and with Camara and Agohawa in the wings - Hull manager Phil Brown enquired about the availability of the £500,000 January signing.
He said: "I've spoken to Chris Hutchings and he's aware of our interest. At the moment the player is not available. If he was I would be interested. Will he become available before Friday? You never know."
With Agahowa and Camara unavailable in January due to the African Nations, Folan is needed as cover later in the season.
Another rumour is that Folan will become available only if a rumoured move for £1million rated Darius Vassell, on the fringes at Manchester City, is pushed through before Friday's transfer deadline.
