Opponents Manchester United are the clear favourites to win the contest but Coyle is aware if his players express themselves they are capable of causing an upset.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Coyle said: "Nobody will give us a change, but we don't mind that in the slightest, We are playing against the Champions of England, Manchester United, and one of the top three sides in world football.

"We'll certainly give ourselves a chance, and we'll be going there in positive mood. It's a chance to pick up the first silverware of the season, and one we're very much looking forward to.

"If you're good enough and you give your best, you've always got a chance of winning a football match."

The Latics have a good record at Wembley having won their two previous visits to the new stadium against Millwall and Manchester City and supporters will be hoping to make it a hat-trick with the calp of Manchester United.
