Cotterill wants loan move

Out of form: David Cotterill
Back in August before the close of the transfer window, Cotterill was said to be close to a six month loan deal with Sheffield United, before being told at the last minute that the deal was off.

He is now searchnig for a similar move in January to boost his international chances with Wales, and also to prove that he isn't as bad as recent performances suggest.

The Welsh international said: "The plug was pulled at the last minute on the loan move. That was disappointing and very frustrating for me. I need to be playing and there have been times when I have not even been in the travelling squad for matches.

"I have had a chat with John Toshack asking his advice in terms of my club and international future and his advice was what I expected - to try to get matches, maybe out on loan. That would help everyone. Now I have to wait for the new manager to be appointed for another fresh start and to see whether I can go on loan or be in the first team."

Despite promising displays shortly after joining the club, Cotterill has seemingly lacked bottle and aggression on the pitch this season and has been particularly poor, so much so that he was hauled off after 40 minutes against Spurs at the weekend.

There are, on the other hand, supporters who believe Cotterill is not suited to playing on the right wing and needs to be given a chance up front.

Perhaps a loan move to get some first team experience is what Cotterill needs at the moment. Either that or a kick up the backside.
