Comedian Bothroyd attempts mind games

Bothroyd's comments smack of a man who has lost the plot and is trying desperately to reduce the pressure on his team.

He said: "I know that Wigan know they have to win this, - it's a far bigger game for them than it is for us," said the Watford manager in a statement that smacks of mind games.

"They'll go further away from the bottom three if they win and they'll see that as a massive thing. We are not expected to be anywhere outside 20th position and there is a bit more expectation on them, particularly after doing so well last year.

"I don't think there is any pressure on us. If we finish in a position that means we are in the Premiership next year then that will be like winning the Play-off Final, swimming the channel and climbing Everest. I think we can do it, irrespective of what happens against Wigan."

Defeat tonight for Watford would almost certainly spell relegation, while a win for the Latics would almost secure safety.

I ask you Adrian... is the pressure really on us?
