The 25 year old South Korean international midfielder has taken the number 5 shirt at the JJB Stadium that was vacated when Wilson Palacios left for Tottenham Hotspur.

Cho has an impressive 27 caps for his national team and can play as either a left back or left sided midfielder.

Speaking about his new acquisition, Steve Bruce said: "I could tell straight away that he was a good player. I think he can make a significant impact in the Premier League, that is the reason why we are signing him.

"He's fast, strong, determined, and has a terrific attitude on and off the field."

It is expected that Cho will arrive in Wigan today to complete as all the formalities are completed.

The signing of Cho does however seem to offer suggestions that Jason Koumas may be on his way out of the club.

The Welsh international was linked with a move to Cardiff in January, but the Bluebirds couldn't afford his significant wages.
