"A few clubs have contacted me about Pascal possibly doing a deal in January, but I could not do that to Paul Jewell after he took a chance on him and more importantly Pascal could not do that either to the club, Paul Jewell or Dave Whelan," McKay said.
"Paul Jewell took a chance on him after being alerted to him by John Benson when he had other targets, but John put forward Pascal to Paul. Pascal is happy at Wigan and is loving life there after they took a chance on him when others didn't. He is playing well and I hope to sit down with Wigan and thrash out a new deal for Pascal."
Meanwhile Amdy Faye, who shares the same agent as Pascal Chimbonda has been linked with a move to the JJB in January. However McKay said: "Amdy is happy at Newcastle, but like all players he wants to be playing regularly. There were several clubs interested before he joined Newcastle and I am sure there a number of sides looking at him.
"Amdy knows Newcastle is a massive club with huge expectations and he fully understands that there is going to be competition for places. Amdy is happy to be at Newcastle and is ready to fight for his place."
