The london club have been chasing Chimbonda all summer, but have yet to match the clubs £6million valuation of the World Cup star. Bids of £2million, £3million and a player swap bid have all been rejected outright.

Chimbonda has angrily hit out, after helping the Latics to a top ten finish last
Pascal Chimbonda: Spat his dummy out
season, and he believes the club are going back on their word to let him move if a top club came in for him.

He told skysports: "I can't see a deal happening now because of the money Wigan are looking for me. I am amazed that for a player who they bought for £400,000 a year ago, they are now demanding £5.25million."

"I could have left in January, but i decided to stay on and help Wigan. I was told when i signed my new contract in January that the club would not stand in my way if a top club came calling for me."

"That is the reason i signed my new deal and let them take out my release clause."

"If the club does not want to sell me, maybe they will give me a new contract worthy of a player who they value at £5.25million."

Chimbondas chairman, and thorn in Wigan's side Willie McKay said:" I can understand Wigan's point of view. However i can also accept Pascal's stance."

"I wold hope that something could be sorted out quickly for the good of both parties."
